i don’t use inverted y but i can see the appeal of using it with thumbsticks because of the added abstraction and maybe osmosis from how joysticks/yokes in aviation work (though this is a stretch). moving between the two is unpleasant on a visceral level, like when you expect another step at the top of a flight of stairs and step down onto nothing Inertia plays a part, but that can’t be discounted when every other OS usable with a mouse has you scroll down in the document when you move the wheel down. like you don’t move a piece of paper up on your desk by setting down a small plastic wheel and turning it towards you, you use a fingertip i think the more direct feedback you have with the ‘natural’ scrolling on the trackpad makes sense with the former, and the more abstracted mousewheel scrolling makes sense with the latter. I guess it comes down to ‘moving the content’ versus ‘moving the viewport’. There is one choice of scrolling direction that makes sense, and it is not what i was used to for most of my life Hold a mouse up to the screen and move the wheel, and see which direction the content goes fixes the garbage scroll wheel, $25 is pretty steep but i guess it's a reasonable fee to make a $4000 computer usable
i think the only supported configuration is to use it over bluetooth, which kind of sucks idk

Logitech managed to do some wizardry with their drivers that makes the mx master kind of good to use, but I think the arm transition broke support for the unifiying receiver to the point where sleep/waking the computer will cause either the pointer acceleration to reset, the scrollwheel to behave completely differently, or the auxiliary buttons to stop working. you can sort of mitigate that with steermouse but it never really works right. the default scrollwheel behaviour being this bizarre jerky acceleration curve, in a direction that can't be controlled independent of the trackpad, is unforgivable though.

the default pointer acceleration is fair enough it's a matter of personal preference although I wish you could turn it off without having to install steermouse.
Had the magic trackpad provisioned just to get the space gray lightning cable. Yeah they deliberately made the worst possible mouse just to make the tragic macpad look like a better option Macos stopped caring about mice years ago, it’s designed to be used with a trackpad these days shamefulĪlso lol that macos requires an unofficla plugin called "sensible side buttons" to make a mouse work. a full bore desktop browser autocorrecting what is ostensibly keyboard input. Switched to safari from chome today and lol that it has autocorrect turned on by default.
